Textbook Policy
TEXTBOOKS
Each student is responsible for between $280.00 to $370.00 worth of textbooks!
- ID cards are required for all textbook checkouts.
- Write your name, in pen, on the inside of the front cover of each of your textbooks.
- It is recommended that students write the TVUSD barcode number of each textbook inside of their GMS planner, or other safe place, in order to have their own record.
- Students are expected to return the same book, with the same barcode, that was issued to the individual at the beginning of the school year. Many times student’s turn in a textbook, but it is not the textbook that they checked out at the beginning of the year. The barcode number must match the one on the students’ library record, in order to clear his/her account at the end of the year.
- Books are to be used ONLY by the student to whom the books are issued. DO NOT loan your books to your friends! If your friend loses your book, YOU will be charged for it.
- Keep books clean, as there is a charge for any damages. If a book is damaged when you check it out, let the library staff know immediately. Do not put water or juice bottles in your backpack with books!
- Please do not tamper with or peel off barcodes. If one comes off, there is a $3.00 charge for replacement.
- DO NOT leave a textbook in a classroom. If the book ends up missing, the teacher is not responsible for its loss; YOU ARE!
- Keep books dry during the rainy season. If a book comes back wet, you will be charged a fine.
WORKBOOKS
- Workbooks are consumable. They do not need to be returned at the end of the year.
- Write your name in your workbook immediately.
- If you lose your workbook you will be charged for the replacement copy (costs range from $3 - $15).
Library Computers
THE INTERNET AT GARDNER MIDDLE SCHOOL WILL BE USED FOR SCHOOL-RELATED RESEARCH ONLY! AT NO TIMES ARE GAMES OR “INTERNET SURFING” ALLOWED!
Topics that will be questioned by library staff include such things as video game sites, skateboarding, pop music/video sites, and anything else that appears to be non-school related
- To log into computers, students must use their 10-digit ID number and the password that they created at the beginning of the school year.
- Students should write their password in their planner, or other safe place, in order to help them remember it for the entire school year. Should a student lock themselves out of the system due to using the incorrect password or if they forget their password, they will have to visit the library to have their account reset.
Do not wait until the last minute to start or finish assignments! Computer use is on a first come, first serve basis, and you are not guaranteed to always get a computer!
Students who fail to abide by the District regulations shall be subject to disciplinary action, revocation of the user account, and legal action as appropriate per District Board Policy BP 6163.4
PRINTER USE:
Students may use the computers to complete class assignments, as well as print their school work on the library/media center printer.
AT NO TIME WILL STUDENTS BE PERMITTED TO USE THE LIBRARY/MEDIA CENTER PRINTER FOR PERSONAL PRINTING!
Students may print up to 5 pages, per visit, at no charge. Additional pages will cost 10 cents per page, at the descretion of library staff. Please ask a library staff member for help in order to possibly condense the number of printed pages that may be necessary, especially when printing pictures.
Please print from Word documents or Google Docs only, not directly from websites, in order to avoid the possibility of printing multiple unintended pages.
Student ID Cards
ID cards are required for the following items:
- Checking out textbooks.
- Checking out library books.
